Laid-back beach front luxury
A Lifestyle Hotel in Weligama
Ceylon Sliders pays homage to the nomadic surf lifestyle with a gentle nod to the island’s heritage. This hotel is for the traveller, the space is spread across a minimalist beachfront building on Galle Road in Weligama bay, with views over Indian ocean, and the traditional colonial house at the back with a private gate towards the backstreets of Weligama town. The rooms are named after places where the founders have found inspiration and the walls are filled with artwork and photography from the different places. Tall ceilings, raw materials and airy design together with the bustling café and shop downstairs makes an inspiring space. The beach just in front is home to some of the best beginner waves in the world and the challenging reefs down the road makes a great place for the adventuring surfer to set base.
Island Suite
The spacious ocean view suite is designed by surfers for surfers. Natural light flows through the large windows and stir you awake in the morning, check the waves from your bed upon sunrise and step outside onto the balcony of the hotel for uninterrupted views of Weligama bay before making your final decision on which surf break to go for. Sat on Ceylon Sliders second and third floor we have two island suites available, both of them fit an extra bed still offering plenty of space. There’s privacy from the café below, yet close to the shared palm-fringed courtyard when you want to socialise with fellow new friends, or the rooftop terrace if you feel like stretching out in a yoga class. The rooms are spacious and minimalistic just enough to feel like a home away from home. Complete with four poster bed and air-conditioning, travellers can look forward to a good night’s sleep. The island suite includes a desk, perfect for the traveller that brought some work on their trip, a Marshall Bluetooth speaker and a minibar so you can turn up your favourite tunes and enjoy the sun setting over Weligama bay in your own privacy from the balcony, still in the midst of it all.

For the designer on a budget
The Louisiana Shoebox
The room flow with the same distinctive easy-going vibe as the island suites; white walls dressed in artwork and contemporary interior details. We call it the shoebox not for the reason that it’s smaller than a standard hotel room, however it’s set back between the famous café and the kitchen and can get a bit noisy + there is less privacy and not any ocean views = the shoebox. Yet it’s the ultimate room for the foodie who doesn’t want to step any further for the best food and drinks in town. One step back after dinner and you are in your own space with all amenities and at a budget compared to the luxurious Island Suites.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between Ceylon Sliders and a classic surf camp? A surf camp normally sells packages of one week or more and is focused solely on surfing. At Ceylon Sliders, we offer surf lessons for beginners and surf guiding for the advanced. If you just want a couple of lessons it’s a great option for a beginner. If you you’re an intermediate surfer and don’t want surf coaching but only guiding it’s also a great option. However, if you want to make the most of your surfing and develop your skills we recommend Sunshinestories Surf Camp and Yoga Retreat as they teach in a totally different way.
Are you located beachfront? Yes! We want to claim that as we are as close to the sea as you possibly can on this stretch in Weligama and we call that beachfront. However the Galle road is between us and the beach so we are not “on the beach”, unfortunately, the case in many locations on the south coast as they constructed the road very close to the ocean. We do have some traffic on the road and for light sleepers that want an early night – we recommend looking for a hotel located further inland away from the Galle Road. However the traffic slows down around 8pm and the sound of the Indian Ocean takes over. It’s one of the drawbacks to live with panoramic ocean views, a beach out front, surf out front. Read our reviews, it’s a beautiful place to be!
Can we check out later? Sometimes that’s possible. Please ask when you are on location.
When is the best time to visit? Any time! Sri Lanka has seasons but the weather is almost always good and the surf in front of our hotel is good year-round, you can surf 365 days a year.
Can we bring the kids? Due to the outlay of our hotel, we can unfortunately not accept children under 12. Special arrangements can be made, please email us to inquire.
What about cancellation, or your terms & conditions? At the moment we offer flexible cancellation terms, please read in full on our cancellation policy here
