Travel, and explore as much as you can. See the world, and the bigger picture. And don’t take yourself too seriously.

Georgie, how did you come up with the idea of “Wanderlust Life Jewelry”?

Wanderlust Life is a collection of understated and minimal jewelry inspired by the world, handmade in the UK. Inspired by Georgie Roberts’ aspiration to create a range of jewelry reflecting her constant desire and love to travel, Wanderlust Life was born in 2013 in a small coastal town of North Devon in the UK.

Have you always been creative and creating?

I’ve always been a creative person, since I was a little girl. I’ve always appreciated the beauty in small detail. Before Wanderlust Life was born I studied design, and worked in fine art for a well-known British artist.

How does Wanderlust Life look now compared from when you started?

Wanderlust Life started in 2013 as a small start-up business from the spare room in my house. The brand grew as a sideline alongside my full time job working for an international artist, until it became too busy to handle with another job. So, I made that scary decision to leave my job and let the brand grow. Amazing things can happen when you step out of your comfort zone. Four years on, and we now have an online store, a studio & retail space of our own, and stock over 40 stores across the UK & Europe, Australia & Sri Lanka.

What is your favorite gemstone?

Ohh, thats a tough one! We work with nearly 50 different gemstones – there are lots to choose from. I love the simplicity of the Black Spinel, but I also like picking out different gemstones based on their properties and meanings. At the moment I’m drawn to Malachite, it’s a deep green gemstone for travel, and it protects and assists in time of change. Moonstone is another favorite – known as the ultimate travel stone, and I’d say its it’s also our most popular gemstone – most definitely a stone for Wanderlust.

What’s your biggest challenge as a business owner?

A work life balance.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love the team that work for me. Wanderlust Life is my vision, but it wouldn’t be where it is without the passion and commitment from my brilliant team.

What would you say to your 15 year old self?

Travel, and explore as much as you can. See the world, and the bigger picture. And don’t take yourself too seriously.

You came to Sri Lanka earlier this year and that’s how we found you – staying in our Galle room. You created a “Ceylon” collection after that trip. What inspired you most with Sri Lanka?

Yes, we stayed in the Galle room, we had such a lovely time. Our room and our stay at Ceylon Sliders was our favorite spot of the entire trip. I was so inspired by the color and warmth and happiness of Sri Lanka. I loved the rich culture, the people, and the vibrancy.

Which one is your favorite beach in Sri Lanka?

Hiriketiya. We loved finding this beautiful beach for a few days whilst on our travels. There were perfect (tiny) waves for me to have a play and I swam with turtles – it was pretty special.

What was your favorite item on the Ceylon Sliders menu?

The perfect flat white! I also loved the granola breakfast, such a good way to start the day in the courtyard with morning sunshine on our faces.

One thing you can recommend our readers to pack in their bag for their upcoming trip to Sri Lanka?

A good book, a playlist (and some mozzie spray!).
